As is usually the case when we play this Bilbrook team, the nerves of both players and supporters were evident. Having not been the best of friends over the seasons, this encounter was going to prove just as memorable for 1 reason or another.
Straight from kick off Wyrley were on the attack, and were rewarded with the a goal in the 1st minute, a through ball to Lauri was parried by Bilbrooks keeper straight into Vicky’s path for a lovely drive into the net. Nice start by Wyrley, who continued to attack. 3mins another of Chelsea’s wonderful corners found Kirsty’s head and this week she sent it towards goal, in off the post 2-0, which she celebrated by squealing upto the half way line, well it was her 1st goal ever.
This was a big wake up call for Bilbrook, slow starters but they get there in the end, as they started to challenge for the ball. 14mins Lauren made her 1st real save of the game, clearing it off her line.
15mins Bilbrook again forced Lauren into a brilliant save. The defence of Jody, Kirsty, Hayley and Kelly were worked hard for the rest of the half, with wave after wave of Bilbrook attacks. Her Best Move ipod Wyrley did force Bilbrooks keeper into some fine saves, and Leanne showed she had her rugby boots not football boots on when she converted over again. The rest of the half was end to end with fierce challenges going in.
2nd Half Started with Bilbrook going full out on the attack, and were rewarded on 61mins, when the shot hit the post but wasn’t dealt with by Wyrley defence and the rebound was hit home 2-1. ‘Game on’ was the Bilbrook shout, ‘oh no’ was the Wyrley reply. There was nothing between the teams as they both went full on for the points. Tash played in some lovely threw balls, and Kelly made some great runs up the wing, which caused a few problems for Bilbrook. Wyrley had the luxury of 2 subs again this week and Charlie and Ash were bought on to liven up the midfield. 73mins Wyrley get a corner, another fine ball in from Chelsea, Bilbrook clear the ball to edge of the box where Ash battled 3 players before laying off to Sophie who made no mistake in burying the ball in the bottom corner, 3-1 and a bit of relief, which lasted a whole 2mins as Wyrley made a dreadful mistake in defence with an air kick by Hayley, which allowed Bilbrook to score their 2nd 3-2.
The next 15mins were horrendous to watch as both teams went out for the win. Wilbur Wants to Kill Himself movie Nobody was more relieved at full time than Martin who looked like he needed oxygen with 5mins left. More of the same next week girls when we face Chasetown in the final of the cup.
