The result didn’t reflect the effort Dragons put into a hard fought game today and they deserved to come away with at least a point.
After soaking up pressure from Cresswell for the first five minutes Dragons soon started getting in the stride as they worked their way into the game. With some excellent play Dragons were the first to score and it was Ewan who hit it past the keeper after some brilliant passing where Carl, Liam R and Kieran S all linked up to put him through on goal.
Cresswell dug in and kept Dragons at bay, although forcing corners they found it hard to capitalise and add to the score line with Cieran W having the best chance to stretch the lead with the keeper just getting behind the ball in a 50 – 50 challenge to deny him from scoring. Cresswell came back at Dragons scoring twice before that boy Ewan was once again leading by example getting stuck in and working hard ended up being perfectly placed to score the equaliser.
Half Time 2 – 2.
Dragons pushed hard in the second half to once again take the advantage and despite their best efforts they could not find a way through Cresswell’s defence with Kieran S going closest hitting the ball from just outside the box into the arms of the keeper. That gave Cresswell hope and they pushed to get more than a point from the game, as time went on their pressure slowly built but some solid defending from the back four kept them from scoring. Everybody out there in a Wyrley shirt worked their socks off holding Cresswell as they started to have more of the ball but in the end one momentary lapse of concentration let Cresswell through to score and ultimately come away with all three points.
Full Time 3 – 2.
