After a really good season finishing top of the table Cougars’ end of season tour took them to Brixham in the Devon cup. Things didn’t start well when we got lost on the way to the pitch on the first morning, only just getting there for the start of the game then losing 1-0. But with their goal achieved for the season the lad’s soon settled down winning their next 2 game’s 2-0, then 1-0 against Worcester A & Worcester B. Then a very impressive 0-0 draw against the eventual winners of the competition Upminster Rovers. With not even a thought of getting to the final Cougars started Sunday with a 1-0 win against Croft FC, then a 0-0 draw against Bristol City. It was only when we came to play the final game that the results had gone our way & a win against local side Stoke Gabriel put us in the final. The lad’s did this impressively with a 4-0 win, but big respect must go to Stoke Gabriel who made this one of the most enjoyable game’s of football I have ever watched, this game is what football is about. With a side full of ex academy players the extra quality did show in the final with Cougars losing 2-0 to Upminster. I would just like to say to both parents & players what great time Candy & myself had & how proud we are to be running this team & what a great bunch of parents & players we have even if the weather was a bit ropey .
