With Bloxwich’s pitch waterlogged the game was switched to Dragons home pitch, which was luckily just down the road, and after a short delay to set up the nets the game was on.
Dragons took the game to Bloxwich from the off playing some nice football passing the ball well in midfield as they tried to put Liam R and Cirean W through on goal. With both teams battling hard it was Bloxwich who scored first with a well worked goal which managed to stretch Dragons defence on the break. Despite going a goal down Dragons kept their heads up and started to put Bloxwich under pressure with Ryan, Carl and Ewan working hard to get the ball in midfield and passing the ball out wide to Tom H who together with Kieran S made the keeper work hard to deny Dragons from scoring. Bloxwich scored a second from a free kick and their third of the half came on the break after Dragons once again started to put them under pressure and looked like they could get back into the game.
Half Time 3 – 0.
In the second half Dragons came out fighting and started to look like the better team, with Tom F, Liam H, Moggy and Dom keeping a good line at the back and tackling hard but fair they didn’t let Bloxwich have any real clear cut chances on Nathans goal. As the second went on you could tell it wasn’t going Dragons way once again as Kieran S hitting the cross bar from a free kick and various chances being saved by Bloxwich’s keeper making some excellent saves to stop us from getting on the score sheet. All the hard work Dragons had put into the game finally paid off as Liam R latched onto a ball which split Bloxwich’s defence to go one on one with the keeper and calmly slotted the ball into the net.
As Dragons pushed hard for a second goal Bloxwich once again stretched them on the break with Nathan showing a good command of his box making some excellent saves to stifle out Bloxwich’s attack. Despite all the teams efforts Bloxwich scored once more from open play and again from the penalty spot in the dying minutes of the game.
