After two weeks with no game, Wyrley went into this game looking for a win to consolidate there postion in mid table. This was always going to be a difficult game to play because of the opponents and weather conditions.
Wyrley started strongly and pushed back the Shire Oak defence, good movement and passing helped Wyrley to create some good chances. The breakthrough came from a corner when James Sorrell rose above the defence and netted with a powerful header. The second followed quickly after Joshua Griffiths was brought down after a Wyrley counter attack. James Goddard put the penalty away with great confidence.
The game then became a bit scrappy and Wyrley letting Shire Oak back into the game. Shire Oak where then awarded a corner to which they pulled a goal back. The half ended with Wyrley 2-1 up.
The second half began with Wyrley playing the better football but unable to convert chances made.
Then a through ball from Ashley Gunn split the Shire Oak defence, the ball was pucked up by Joshua Wilson who closed in on goal and finished cooly.
Today saw the comeback of Chris Bevan who has been out with illness from the start of the season, Chris made a good contribution on his return.
The game ended 3-1 to Wyrley.
A good team performance in difficult conditions.
