Wyrley Colts had mixed fortunes this weekend with a 3-0 loss to Bentley Youth. Colts started very bright in the first half facing horrendous boggy, windy and rainy conditions. Colts held Bentley to 0-0 at half time, but football is “a funny old game”, Colts were unlucky to concede 3 goals, even with their most valiant attempts and plenty of sharp passing and fantastic defending.
The Colts regrouped to stage a 2-1 win against FC Perton Pumas and attacked from the first whistle, piling the pressure on the Pumas defence. There were furious battles in midfield with the matchball suffering against the poor playing surface, but Colts came out on top playing a better passing game, resulting in 2 excellent goals.
This was also the first two matches for Wyrley Colts’ latest signing, Russell Jones, who had a baptism of fire in defence.
A fantastic performance from the players, of which all of the parents, supporters and management are VERY proud indeed!
