Wyrley panthers u7’s match reports

Hello Panthers fans! The football was as glorious as the weather today, as Wyrley Panthers built on last week’s great performances with two more on the grass at Shelfield Academy.

Tipton Youth

Ryan Jones set things off with a good direct run down the right wing, supplemented by Willo snapping at the heels of the Tipton midfield, and Joshua with some assertive early defending, holding his position well. The first shot on goal came from Willo who had a great direct run, cut in from the right and shot for the keeper to save. Joshua defended positively holding a high line allowing Ryan, Willo and Ritichie to dominate the midfield, indeed Ritchie poured forward at every opportunity making good runs down the left. Joshua stepped out of defence superbly, and sent several dangerous balls in. Ritchie then capitalised on all the Wyrley pressure and scored a good goal with a sweet left footed strike. Lukas Purcell kicked and handled well and finished the half with a deserved clean sheet. Frazer came on for Ryan and Vinnie for Lukas in goal. Joshua treated the crowd in the second half with several examples of great footwork and quality passing dominating the midfield. Willo then doubled Wyrley’s lead with a typical direct run and long range shot. Vinnie and Frazer played their part protecting the goal with Vinnie saving well and Frazer clearing well too. Wyrley totally dominated the second half with a stranglehold on the midfield, credit going to Willo, Ritchie and Joshua. Well done to Vinnie for a clean sheet too.

Shire Oak Vipers

A great match was seen by all here! Shire Oak attacked early on well with Frazer making a good early clearance and several throughout the match. Indeed Wyrley took a while to get going in this match, Ryan did very well running directly down the right and Willo did superbly with a mazy dribble and quick feet both unlucky not to finish. Shire oak broke forward and managed to finish well, to end a breathless first half one nil up. Ritchie came on for Joshua, and Vinnie replaced Lukas. Wyrley soon equalised with Ryan finishing off a great Wyrley move. Ryan then put Wyrley in the lead after he superbly capitalised on a goalkeeping mix up to finish well. Tipton then quickly equalised quicker to the rebound after Vinnie made a save. Then Tipton scored a superb third from distance leaving the goalkeeper no chance. Willo, who had truly covered every blade of grass then swapped with Joshua for the last few minutes. In the dying minutes of the match Wyrley managed to win a corner. Joshua swung it in superbly, Ryan caused all sorts of problems and then Ritchie arrowed an unstoppable shot into the top corner to give Wyrley a deserved equaliser just before the final whistle.
