Wyrley Panthers v Tipton Friendly Match
A poor weekend for the boys who were beaten in both games on what was an unusually off day.
The boys were comprehensively beaten in the first game 3-0 by a well drilled Tipton team. The boys were unusually out battled and only Josh ‘Smasher’ Mason and Sam ‘Scotty’ Scott could really come off the field feeling they had given their all during the match.
Scotty was deserving of his Man of the Match award for his all-action display.
Wyrley Panthers v Colron Friendly Match
The second game was a closer affair but the boys again were probably deservedly beaten as although they showed a lot more grit and determination than the first game, they did not offer enough when they had possession of the ball.
The boys spent too much of the game defending valiantly but once they had won the ball they did not keep possession of the ball well enough to trouble their opponents.
Ben ‘Tank’ Maginness showed endeavour and an appetite to terrorise defenders when he was handed a role in attack. In addition, George Whitehouse defended stoutly at the back and was the winner of the Man of the Match award.
A disappointing weekend, but the boys showed at training the following Tuesday that this was simply a blip and showed their desire to make up for their performances the following weekend.
