Wyrley were looking to build on their impressive performances last week and were up against a strong Red Star Raiders team team, who the boys had watched a week earlier. Wyrley started brightly and when Ethan played a ball into the box looking for Kyle, a Red Star defender pushed Kyle and the referee duly awarded the Tigers a penalty. Ethan then stepped up confidently to dispatach the penalty at the second attempt after the referee brought his first effort back as he had not blown the whistle. Tigers were unluckly not to extend their lead with Ryan crossing for Finley who was unlucky that his effort was blocked by the recovering Red Star defence. The half time whistle came with the score Wyrley 1-0 Red Star. Red Star came out fighting in the second half and were really up for it. Jacob was impressive in goal and had to be to stop three or four goal bound Red Star efforts. Josh Pritchard and Evan were immense in defence, blocking shots, getting their tackles in and keeping the Tigers in the lead. Wyrley then started to regain more possession and Josh Singh and Luke linked up well to try and stretch the lead, but Red Star were holding strong and managed to break away and squeeze a shot past Jacob in the last two minutes to equalise, which in fairness they probably deserved. Full Time Wyrley Tigers 1-1 Red Star Raiders.
Man of the match: Josh Pritchard
After a confidence boosting draw Wyrley looked really up for their next match against Brownhills Colts. Luke started in goal and his distribution to Ethan, Josh Singh and Ryan was causing the Brownhills defence problems. Jacob and Josh Pritchard started in defence and were able to take it in turns to push up and support when the Tigers were attacking , which was for most of the first half. Evan worked hard up and down the pitch and was causing the Brownhills defence some problems. Despite the majority of the possession, the Brownhills defence were blocking everything that the Tigers threw at them, leaving the score at half time Wyrley 0-0 Brownhills. Ryan went in goal for the second half and looked composed, dealing with everything that came his way. Kyle and Luke started to dominate the midfield, feeding Ethan and Josh Singh with goal scoring opportunities but it was looking as though it was not going to be our day. Finley found Ethan wide on the left, he beat his man and crossed for Josh Singh, whose shot was blocked and the rebound fell to Jacob, but again he found his shot blocked as well. With time ticking away it was Wyrleys time to score a late goal, as Kyle found himself with the ball just outside the box, he beat his man and shot towards goal where Josh Singh was waiting to flick the ball past the keeper to the joy of the Tigers. Brownhills had one last attack but the Tigers worked well as a team to deal with the threat and clear the ball upfield, signalling the end f the game, Wyrley Tigers 1-0 Brownhills.
