After a great start to the season Wyrley Wolves seem to have lost their mojo. After losing for 3 consecutive weeks in a row.
Tipton 5 – Wyrley Wolves 2
Glad to see keeper Andrew back after recovering from his broken foot. Many thanks to Aiden for making a fine stand in. Some great saves to be proud of!
In the first 20 minutes of this game it could have gone either way but it was Tipton who quickly took the lead and at half time despite a superb goal by Ben and some hard tackling by Jimmy in midfield the first half ended 2-1 to Tipton. In the second half ben who looked consistently threatening made a great cross to Jay in the box to pull us back . But despite constant battling the boys were unable to recover a point. Man of the match: Lucian
Wyrley Wolves 1- Brewood 2
Much of the same again for this match. Brewood took an early lead and despite some good chances Wyrley just couldn’t get the ball past Brewood’s keeper. The only goal came when Kyle laid off to Kristian who scored our one and only goal. Man of the match: Simo
Wednesbury 5 – Wyrley Wolves 1
Keeper Andrew really kept us in this game as Wyrley’s goal was bombarded with shots and Wednesbury quickly took the lead. Wyrley had their chances but failed to do anything with them. Especially when striker Jacob went down injured and we were down to 10 boys and no subs to replace him. Then a corner from Simo and midfielder Kyle rose above the defence to firmly head it in to the back of the net and make amends for an earlier missed chance. No time to breathe though before Wednesbury scored again just before the whistle for half time.
In the second half moving defender Jordan in to midfield changed the dynamics of the game making Wyrley a more attacking force. Too little too late though and not enough players to make the necessary changes.
Man of the match: Andrew. Well deserved!
Wyrley Wolves have come a long way this season although the results recently don’t show it. Having only this year joined Wyrley the team have had a lot to deal with. Before the season began they lost a good defender Sam who moved away. They had 4 new players to fit in which changed the team and there wasn’t really much time to gel. We missed Nathan whilst he was away abroad; many boys fell ill over the winter period; Andrew broke his foot; more and more morale has taken a hit.
Wyrley are a team of of individually good players each with strengths of their own. Over the next few weeks they have some difficult games to play but now with everyone fit we can only hope they can rally to bring their strengths together and start to play as the team we know they can be.
Come on Wyrley! You know you can do it!
