Wyrley Youth 3 – 2 Tower FC

Wyrley came into the game needing a win to relieve some pressure from their shoulders.

The game started off very well for Wyrley, we passed the ball round smoothly and aiming to open up gaps in the Tower defence. After 5mins of pressure from Wyrley, Tower hit back with pressure and the game just went from end to end for the next 5-10mins. But from some brilliant build up play between Liam Hunt and Liam Edwards, the ball got played across goal for Ryan Middleton to slot home his 5th of the season. From the kick-off Wyrley still looked the better team, but after about 10mins Tower came back with a ball over the top and the Tower striker shot but got denied by Jake Edmonds, but to the strikers relief he managed to slot home the rebound to make it 1-1. The first half was coming to a close and the game got really intresting untill 4mins before the whistle as Ryan Middleton made a gasping run through the defence and made it 2-1 to go joint top goal scorer with Kieran Wellington. The half time whistle blew.

The second half was just as good as the first for Wyrley, we were holding possession comfortably and playing some good football but all of a sudden out of no where Tower made a counter attack and played the ball across the edge of the box and one of the Tower players struck a nice shot and made it 2-2. The game went quiet for 10-15mins but Wyrley were still holding the ball and passing it round. To our relief with 3mins to go Kieran Wellington slotted home his 7th of the season to make it 3-2 and to go top goal scorer again, which also sealed the win for us.
