This was never going to be an easy match 1st v 2nd in the league, definately a 6 pointer. With Boldmere unable to provide an earlier kick off than 12.30, Wyrley were without Kirsty and Ash, not a great start. Boldmere started with the strong wind at their backs kicking long balls over the top giving Lauren a few problems with the bounce and the wind. Wyrely continued attacking and making Boldmere defend hard. Wyrely had chances from Lauri, Sophie and Vicky, which made the goalkeeper work hard. Unfortunatly on 22 mins Lauri went down hard on her left ankle, it was obviously from the side lines and pain from Lauri that it wasnt a wet sponge required but an ambulance. 55 mins later with Lauri off to hospital, ( broke in 2 places and ligament damage, ouch ) the game continued. It was on 33 mins that Bolmere managed to score, after pinball in the box wasnt cleared. Bolmere then changed their formation to an 11 man defence. Wyrleys defence of Jody, Hayley, Leanne and Kelly were defending the half way line for the rest of the game. Chelsea, Tash, Vicky and Charlie joined the attacking duo of Sophie and Becky, to provide wave after wave of attack for rest of the half.
2nd half Wyrley should have benifited from the gale force wind, unfortunatly it had blown itself out, what a lovely sunny day. Seems like nothing is going our way today, then the clouds came over and it stated hailing. With visiblity down to 10 feet, the ref holds the game up and gives it 5 mins before he will abandon the game. We hold our breath for it to carry on only to be outdone on 4 mins when it stopped. Cold, wet, worried for Lauri, still at Boldmere at 3.10pm, when will this nightmare be over? Another hail storm, another delay, more goal line clearances 4 corners in the last 2 mins but Wyrley were unable to get that important equalizer. Frustration showed on everyone in the Wyrley camp. Come on girls chins up still 4 games to go.
