Wyrley Juniors 3 – 0 Boldmere Falcons The Prince of Tides movie download
A nice dry day, with the sun threatening to shine, Boldmere arrived with their secret weapon, a fluorescent yellow/black kit, no chance of accidently passing to the wrong team then, or maybe not.
Wyrley started on the attack straight from kick off, and were rewarded with a corner on 5 mins, Chelsea sent in a lovely ball which resulted in a small game of pinball before Lauri miss hit her shot wide. 9mins saw Leanne forgetting its football not rugby as she converted over. 12 mins Lauri 6 feet from goal scooped the ball 6 feet over the bar. Looks like its going to be one of those days when the easy option would be to score but its more fun to put the supporters through the wringer again. Its a good game to watch for the neutrals. For 22mins Lauren was superfluous in goal, and for the next 68 mins was outstanding, she made several brilliant saves ranging from diving at players feet to jumping to palm over the bar. 23 mins Boldmere’s 1st shot was Laurens 1st real save, this was followed up 2mins later with Boldmere’s free kick which cleared the wall and into Laurens outstretched arms. 37mins and another great corner by Chelsea found its way onto Kirstys head and into the keepers arms, proper defensive header by Kirsty, its a shame she was attacking at the time. 41mins before the 1st goal which was an unstoppable volley by Lauri.
2nd Half kicked off and was mostly played in the middle third of the field, with some good attacks by both teams, Jody, Hayley, Kirsty, Kelly and Tash all doing a great job in defence, with Leanne, Chelsea, Vicky, Lauri and sophie all having a go at increaseing the lead. Boldmere were always dangerous on the break, splitting the defence, playing our offside trap perfectly but Lauren was always aware of any danger and commanded her box well. Vicky made some great runs down the wing and even found herself on the end of a cross which she managed to head wide. 67mins and yet another wyrley attack was cleared, but only as far as Chelses who was 25yards from goal and unleashed an unstoppable shot that flew past the Boldmere keeper 2-0. 3mins later Lauri forced their keeper into another double save. 2 substitutions by wyrley saw Ash and Charlie introduced into the battle. Ash held the ball up well and challenged hard when the need arose with Charlie chasing all balls going through their defence, but it was Leanne who raced through onto the cross to make it 3-0. Not long left but enough time for Sophie to do all the hard work in getting infront of goal to scoop it over the bar from 4 foot out.
It was nice to get another clean sheet and progress through to the final. Well done girls.
Next week Home to Bilbrook 10.30 kick off.
