Warndon Village U18's 1-7 Wyrley Junior Girls U18's

Wyrley set out on this long journey knowing only a win would give them the title, having slipped up over the last few weeks.  The nerves were on show as they had numerous chances from open play and 10 corners in the first 20 mins, but nothing crossed the line.  Warndon’s goal seemed to be living a charmed life, that plus the 8 defenders standing in front of it.  Jody almost opened up the scoring (for the opposition) with a back pass that Lauren had to race back and clear.  Ash, Kirsty, Jody and Sarah were holding a high line and Wardon had few runs through to goal.  Chelsea, Vikki, Tash and Sam all had runs at goal without any luck.  It took 37 mins for Tash to unleash a left footed drive that sneaked past the keeper 0-1.  Wyrley did seem to settle down and start passing and building.  42 mins Kelly didn’t connect properly with her shot and it seemed to be crawling towards the line, and took Kelly, a defender and goalkeeper to scramble it over the line 0-2.

The second half started at a much faster pace and Wyrley were once again on the attack.  46 mins Leanne crossed to Kelly, who rounded the keeper and placed it into the empty net 0-3.  47 mins Tash picked up the ball in midfield battled through the defence and smashed home her 2nd 0-4.  Natalie replaced Sarah and Charlie replaced Sam.  52 mins Kelly crossed the ball for Leanne to nod home 0-5.  60 mins Natalie passed to Leanne to Kelly to smash it bottom right for her hat trick 0-6.  Wyrley were content then just to pass the ball about without exhausting themselves.  Charlie sent over some nice balls to Vikki who had several shots smothered, cleared or go high or wide, (never mind Vikki shooting boots next week please).   77 mins Chelsea crossed to Leanne for a run down the wing, around the linesman to the right hand corner flag and struck the sweetest strike of the game into the bottom left, what a cracking goal 0-7.  Wardon did not once give up a lost ball, they battled through and were rewarded on 87 mins when they crossed the ball in the box leaving Lauren stranded 1-7.
