Wyrley started the game knowing a win or draw would give them the league title. They were unfortunate last game not wrapping the league up and started this week in a positive mood. 18 mins a nice passing move cumulated in Tash sending Kelly on her way, she rounded the keeper and smashed the ball home 1-0. A fast paced game resulted in chances at either end with Lauren making several superb saves to deny Walsall an equalizer. 43 mins a Wyrley corner taken by Chelsea was eventually slotted home by Vikki 2-0. This was apparently the signal for Wyrley to take their foot off the accelerator and either go home or give the appearance that they had.
Second half saw Walsall applying more pressure, getting to every ball quicker than Wyrley and setting their lone striker on her way. 53 mins and a cracking shot from the corner of the box left Lauren no chance 2-1. Was this the wakeup call for Wyrley? No, as 2 mins later more sloppy defending gave Walsall their equaliser 2-2. 65 mins a long ball over the top gave Walsall a 1 on 1 with Lauren and Walsall take the lead 2-3. 82 mins Walsall again breached the Wyrley goal 2-4. Take nothing away from Walsall they wanted this win to try and secure 2nd place in the league, even 1st if Wyrley don’t seal a win in their last game.
