WYRLEY LADIES MATCH REPORT – 21/12/2008

LADIES SENIOR CHALLENGE CUP  ROUND 2

WYRLEY LADIES RESERVES  5  V  1  STAFFORD TOWN LADIES RESERVES

After finally managing to get this match played Wyrley booked there
place in the Quarter final of the Challenge Cup against local rivals
Rugeley Ladies.
Wyrley were caught off guard within 30 seconds of the start and went a goal
down after a fine finish from the Stafford centre forward. Wyrley then
composed themselves and had a number of clear cut chances due to the pace of Vikki Shaw and the quality crosses she put into the box, yet  within 15 minutes Leanne Mitchell latched on to a clever combination of passes between Kelly Highman and Lauri Alexander to put Wyrley level with a tremendous strike from just outside the box. Mitchell scored her second and Kelly Isaacs scored her 1st Wyrley goal to go in 3-1 up at half time.

Lauren Cresswell the Wyrley goalkeeper pulled of a couple of quality saves yet
Stafford came back in the Second half, however they came up against the Wyrley
defence with Kirsty Watkins winning every header put into the box and Jody
Richards scooping up any ball put in the box.

The back line up of Emma  Archer, Jody Richards, Kirsty Watkins and Emily King holding out solid in defence.
Kelly Isaacs got her 2nd midway through the second half and so did
Mary Chandler who scored the final goal to set up a Quarter final place
against Rugeley Ladies.
